Shifting Territories

[ A new collection by Lou Castillo ]

Shifting Territories (2025) explores the idea of territory as a living organism in constant transformation. The collection begins with a macro perspective, where human movement, permeable borders, and shifting geographies redefine who we are and how we inhabit the world. Territory is no longer a fixed place, but a changing experience — a continuous movement between physical, emotional, and symbolic spaces.

As this journey moves toward a micro scale, the reflection becomes intimate: our homes emerge as the most personal territories we inhabit. They hold the memories, choices, gestures, and aesthetics that speak to our identity. Home is not just a refuge; it is a territory we actively construct, one that unfolds and reshapes itself as we change.

In this collection, maximalism appears as both a visual language and a declaration of intent. It becomes a way of inhabiting territory with personality, history, and emotion. Through color, texture, and expressive abundance, I reclaim a space where excess is not noise but presence; where saturation becomes narrative; where each piece builds a fragment of identity.

Shifting Territories is ultimately a conversation between external movement and internal landscape: between the places we cross and the ones we choose to inhabit; between what the world transforms in us and what we decide to transform within it.
